Goats are felines
Cats, dogs, and humans share about 70% of their DNA. This is why when you put up pictures of cats or dogs on Instagram, you often get comments saying your cat or dog is “so cute”.
Because goats are herbivores, they too share a lot of similarities with human beings. They have long legs that help them jump high distances, sharp eyes that enable them to watch for predators, and great ears that help them hear approaching animals.
Goat horns are also filled with keratin, the same thing we use to make hair and nails. This is what gives goat cheese its structure and flavor. The only difference between goat skin and natural leather is the outer layer of gooey stuff that comes off when it’s soaked in water.
This protective sheath/goo helps the goat’s hair cells remain intact during washing and preparation for food production. It also assists in sealing in moisture and vitamin E, which aids in maintaining freshness.
Cream is the nutrient
Two of the ingredients in goat cheese are cream and milk. Most of the flavor comes from the cream component.
In fact, that’s where most of the nutrients in goat cheese come from too. A little bit more about the nutrition: Goat cheese contains slightly less protein than cow’s-milk cheese. It has less fat but twice as much calcium (one serving = 57 mg).
Goat cheese also provides vitamin K, which helps your body balance sodium with potassium. That said, only eat this ingredient once per day.
Too much salt can increase blood pressure, so try to limit yourself to one small handful per day. More importantly, though, its high calorie content can help keep you feeling full for a longer time.
Finally, like many dairy products, goatee growth factor (goop) is an emollient found in goat cheese. Removing extraneous fatty material from the cells is how our bodies repair themselves. Too much going away could cause cell regeneration, potentially causing unwanted weight loss.
It is fermented
During this process, the milk bacteria or yeast starts to transform the lactose in the milk (from the cows’milk). The longer these bacteria grow, the stronger their smell will be.
Although it takes time, the fermentation period is limited only to those few days. Once they have finished fermenting, all of the good things start happening so quickly!

Our favorite goat cheese tastes like no other when made by traditional methods with little additions or adjustments. Try going for a tangy flavor as it is rich in lactic acid which gives sourdough bread its tang.
However, if you find plain “goat cheese” too strong, add some salt or sweetener. Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods often sell small packs of shaved white goat cheese called Chaource that is made without additives.
Additives such as stars should not be added to any dairy product. They were created to make people feel more comfortable eating something that once may have seemed disgusting or strange.
It is full of probiotics
Probiotics are live microorganisms that can be consumed through fermented foods or supplements. More than 90% of human-derived microbiota (microbiome) is found in the gut, and hundreds of species are needed to keep our gastrointestinal system healthy.
Probiotics have been linked to a wide range of health benefits, including relief for certain digestive disorders, such as irritable bowel syndrome. Recent studies show that they may also help reduce symptoms of obesity, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, inflammatory conditions, and others.
Goat cheese contains high levels of lactic acid producing bacteria. Among the most common strains present in goat cheeses are Lactobacillus helveticus and Leuconostoc mesenteriodictorum.
These two microbes produce lactic acid which helps make the curds firm and promotes flavor,” says Michael Gaer, executive chef at Momofuku Milk Bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
The enzymes in the cream break down the lactose in the cheese
While all types of goat milk can be used to make cheese, full-fat versions may have a more profound flavor that suits some tastes better. However, many people prefer the delicate flavor of sweet almond oil.
This comes out during processing, so it’s optional. If you don’t want to use your fingers to work with the yogurt or if you like the chewy texture, stick with the full-fat version.
However, this is not always easier – there is more protein in plain nonreprocessed soy (or rice) yogurt. Here are some tips for making dairy easier.
It is delicious
Many people don’t realize that goat cheese can be raw, deli-sliced, or shredded. You may have heard about “bursts of flavor” like lemon or mint being added to pasta dishes, but these addition are for flavoring.
In fact, most cheeses (goat included) are very salty, which brings out their spicy components.
Some people describe goats’ milk flavors as milder and more refined than the robust taste of cow’s milk. That’s because cows tend to produce richer, creamier milk, which translates to bigger-flavored foods.
That said, you will find slightly different levels of intensity in every type of dairy product. No one version is going to be exactly as they say — it’s impossible due to variations in breed, environment, and farming practices.
But it’s also not unlikely that someone might buy three different brands of yogurt and get some much stronger tastes than others. This goes for all types of food.

Many people dislike goat cheese because they think it will have an unpleasant smell or taste. While some brands add their own flavors to try and offset the taste, most are still very salty due to the packaging method used.
However, many countries impose restrictions that prohibit adding colorings or flavorings to foods for consumer health reasons. In fact, some Europeans view food coloring as unnecessarily unsafe.
Since goats’ milk is lower in fat than cow’s milk, there’s less chance of your cheese having a noticeable aftertaste or odor. Plus, since you don’t need much protein to make goat cheeese, it’s easier to digest and contains more vitamin A and calcium from the cows’ milk.
These additional nutrients come at a cost: Goatchees are slightly higher in lactose, which makes up half of all adult dairy sugars. Lactose can be difficult to break down completely out of proportion to its concentration in the gut.
In rare cases, bacteria produce molecules called ketones when carbohydrates sit around unabsorbed. Eating ketone-producing proteins may therefore tip the body into a state of ketosis, where it uses ketones for fuel instead of glucose (a sugar). Wine and dessert are a classic combination. If you’re not sure what to pair with your favorite sweets, try making or buying a sweet cheesecake and drinking one of the many beers that go well with this flavor.
For instance, if you like chocolate, try going for an espresso flavored beer or a coffee liqueur. Or maybe you prefer something slightly fruity? A profiterole or cupcake might be your best choice.
The smell of goat cheese and cream together can get you thinking about summer, may it be served as a snack or alongside some roasted vegetables.
This combo works well with crisp wines such as cabernet sauvignon. For a more subtle flavor transition, choose a smoother grape such as pinot noir.
To play around with flavors, add spices such as cumin or rosemary to the recipe. These additions will create a unique blend while also giving the dish a well-rounded taste.
