Many of them aren’t even considered sugars like high fructose corn syrup is.

Further increasing their taste but giving fewer calories, these additives can be described as unnatural flavors. Some examples are fruity essences and chemical extracts.

Consuming large amounts of added sugars has been linked to weight gain, diabetes, heart disease, and other health issues. For this reason, many organizations offer recommendations on how much sugar you should eat every day.

People often refer to cola as “soda”, when in fact, there are many different names to the beverage. Besides carbonated water, some sodas include flavors such as nuts, coffee, and tea. Unfortunately, these additions don’t make the soda any less damaging to your overall health.

The first reason why cola is bad for you is that it can cause dental problems. Long-term use of cola may lead to tooth decay due to the high amount of sugar content. The other issue with regular consumption of cola is that it contributes to weight gain due to the presence of caffeine. Obesity is linked to various diseases including type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Another way that soda can hurt you is by causing stress and anxiety. Consuming too much caffeine can affect your emotions, making things more stressful and anxious than usual. Drinking too many cups of coffee or cans of soda every day can also contribute to insomnia (poor sleep) as well as mood disorders like depression.

Finally, drinking cola regularly can be associated with reduced muscle strength and bone density.

Sulfates are found in many household products, including shampoo, dish soap, air fresheners, sprays, and cosmetics.

In food you usually don’t encounter sulfates unless it has been treated with a chemical to keep it from spoiling (e.g., drinks stored in plastic containers). People who are sensitive to sulfur or chemicals find that they often have higher levels of sulfate in their bodies than people without such allergies.

When ingested, mainly by kids trying to grow teeth, sodium bisglycidyl sulfamate stays around in your body much longer than either glucose or fructose. It is also created when ethanol (found in alcoholic beverages) metabolizes into urine.

This molecule acts as an endocrine disruptor, which means it messes with natural hormone function. For instance, studies show that it may be responsible for decreased testosterone production in men and increased estrogen production in women.

More serious is its connection with cell death and proliferation. Sodium bisglycidyl sulfamate behaves like a carcinogen so it seems likely that prolonged exposure to it could increase cancer risk.

Although it may be labeled “cane sugar”, this is actually a product of genetically modified yeast that has been infused with corn starch (and some fructose).

Although no studies have linked consumption of cane sugar to health concerns, there are many studies that link intake of glucose and fructose and chronic disease risk.

The primary concern with cane sugar is the use of fluoride which is added to treat the processing.

However, you would need to eat a lot of cane sugar to even begin to see the amount of fluoride we’re talking about. It’s also important to note that fluoride is not dangerous in normal doses.
