Who Is The Weirdest Actor In Hollywood?

For better or worse, no one represents weirdness like an actor who is already established in mainstream culture with his particular brand of insanity.

It’s difficult to know where to begin with this question because “weirdness” is defined differently by every individual.

For some, anything more than ordinary is worth mentioning; for others, nothing that I might call normal is worth noting.

I will admit, at times, I want people to pay attention not just to my movies, but to me as an artist. And if we’re talking about someone famous who also happens to be insane, trust me, they notice too.

And having worked with both Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake, it was easy to see how their obsessiveness can go either way.

But what exactly makes these artists and performers so different from everyone else? Why are they interested in what they do, and why should you care?

Well, let’s take a look at five reasons why certain actors/performers are able to achieve such a singular goal while other individuals cannot.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

(Y)

I’ve always been interested in movies, film, television, etc. And I love listening to people talk about them. Unfortunately, many people are scared of talking about films or television programs with their friends. They feel like they have no idea what things are “about” and that they will say something foolish.

And while you may sometimes find yourself struggling to explain what a movie or show is about, there are ways to bring it up that don’t require any understanding on everyone’s part.

By asking good questions and being willing to understand topics you know little about, you can connect with others by sharing similar interests.

Here are some tips for getting into conversations about movies and TV shows with your friends.

Rainn Wilson

Who is the weirdest actor in Hollywood?

There’s a reason why he’s one of the most fascinating actors at this moment, and it has nothing to do with his acting talent.

Wilson is a golden globe winner for his role as Dwight Schrute on The Office, an award that bears more than a little resemblance to the Oscar winners usually go for lead characters (James Bond, Steve Jobs).

More importantly than that, though, is what he has done outside of filming scripts written around him. While still working as a printer salesperson, aka “The Best Job I’ve Ever Had,” he started two businesses, began reading novels, writing short stories, and playing music software code.

He even wrote three full-length albums under the name Beavis N Butthead.

And now he’s starring in M. Night Shyamalan’s thriller film Split, due out next year. What makes this industry so tough is there are few opportunities for newcomers. So if you’re looking to make a career move, here are some suggestions from someone who spent years trying to figure out how to succeed in show business without being pushed into anything…

Bill Murray

Who is the weirdest actor in Hollywood?

If you don’t know who Bill Murray is, let me fill you in… He was one of the stars of “Ghostbusters”! And before that he was in this thing called ‘Saturday Night Live’.

He was also in ‘Scrooged’, which will surprise people who knew his reputation as an atheist not prone to petty spiritual insights. But what I love about him is that he can do both types of movies, fun kids stuff and then serious drama.

Like last year’s drama “Stickman” where he played a villainous Republican senator bent on destroying another character based on some awful things he did in the past. Or 2013’s comedy “Osmosis Jones” where he plays a shrink who helps treat movie villains for psychological issues.

There are so many different sides to Bill Murray–so much diversity, we should all be grateful to God for giving us such a varied world).

Jim Carrey

Who is the weirdest actor in Hollywood?

There was a time when finding out that an actor could trace their origins to somewhere east of Los Angeles meant they were considered cute or something. It’s still mostly true, but these days it seems like everyone wants to be from someplace unique – which is fine by me!

What makes someone unusual now (as opposed to, say, watching TV all day) is what separates them from the masses. What made them stand out as different individuals is what has always given actors their special qualities.

My question is this: how much does acting really matter for your everyday life? I ask this because you can find just about any character walking around doing things they would never do otherwise.

They might be playing the role of “perfect wife” or “cool kid” at home, but outside those roles there is no consistency. At the end of the day, who are they?

Consider Grace Adair from How to Live with No Money. She’s funny, intelligent, knows several languages, and can sometimes be found singing karaoke.

Then consider Liam Neeson, who despite having acted out many roles in his career, remains known primarily for being an action hero in movies such as Taken and Run All Night.

Seth Rogen

Who is the weirdest actor in Hollywood?

In 2001, director Judd Apatow made a big gamble by giving the comic actor-writer Seth Rogen—a rare smart actor in an era of scriptwriters—the chance to star in his film “This is 40.” By letting Rogen play a mature person who is also not that serious, Apatow won critical praise for the movie, which told the story of a guy coming to terms with being middle aged.

Apatow later asked Rogen to coauthor some of his scripts again, including the hit series “50 First Dates” and “The Hangover”. But it was “Weird Al” Yankovic’s “Angie Wanted” where Rogen showed his talent for comedy invention. He wrote six songs about a terrible girlfriend whom he portrayed using only three characters: her voicemail number, her name (which he changed every week), and her habit of going down on hard things.

Rogen has used these skills to great effect writing and starring in the movies “Pineapple Express”, “40 Foot Walker,” “The Interview” and “22 Jump Street”. His charisma as a performer helps make even the simplest scenes exciting. At the 2015 Oscars, his acceptance speech for Best Original Song was described as cool, calm and collected — even among all the chaos surrounding him.

Angelina Jolie

Who is the weirdest actor in Hollywood?

For my money, there’s no one quite like her. In terms of fame or talent, I can name at least ten actors who are more famous, and maybe even more accomplished. But you know what she gets right now that very few other people get? She knows how to use makeup

She understands why it matters, when to apply it, and how to choose which ones work for her. And most of all, she enjoys it. A lot.

I feel like so many celebrities skip this step and end up with someone else doing their face. You just don’t see them without make-up on.

It is such a huge part of her identity, and I think she does it seriously. She has a team! Makeup artists Mary Brown and Wendy Miller work together with her. I have heard from several sources that they co-direct her creative process as an actor.

This must be particularly helpful when making choices about wardrobe. If anyone could convince a celebrity to wear something onscreen, it would probably be these two.

Natalie Portman

Who is the weirdest actor in Hollywood?

I’m going to give you a scenario and then ask you question about it, so listen closely!

Question: Why did Natalie become an actor?

Scenario: You are walking down your street having absolutely nothing to do when you see her acting job posted. She is looking for extra people for their movie team. You go along with others to read for the role of “extra”. When they mention interviews, you tell them you also interview well. They put you up on YouTube and now you find yourself being asked everyday what you want to be when you grow up and if you know how to act.

Susan Sarandon

While some might argue that Susan Sarandon is too mainstream, I have to disagree.

She’s one of America’s greatest actors, having starred in several famous films including “Bull Durham,” “The Fly” and “Dead Man Walking.”

But also like Sarah Jessica Parker, she has had roles on TV shows such as “Smack Down Live” and “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” She even played Aunt April in the sitcom “Roseanne.”
